The photo above reminds me of the school that Claudia, Pecola, and Frieda all attended. Though it is known that the school is integrated and has other ethnicities, when it came to things like playing and social interactions there was still a big separation. When Claudia talks about the children playing, I imagine a group of young black children like this.
